The story follows an up and coming stand-up comedian and the journey he goes on whilst discovering his routine. It looks at the difference between the on and off stage persona of a comic and the contrast between his real and rehearsed emotions. The juxtaposition will be further emphasised by the cinematography, with slick production for the stand-up and gritty, documentary-style realism for the journey.

STARRING....

AMIR KHOSHSOKHAN AS JAY

Young, bright and incredibly observant, Jay's awareness of social faux pas and clichéd conversations make him extremely reserved. His reluctance to let his true self go is only broken by Sophie, a girl he falls unequivocally for and the only person he's ever felt truly comfortable with. Their break-up is the reluctant basis of his routine and subsequent story.

ROSIE HOLT AS SOPHIE

Playful, sincere and kooky, Sophie thrives off of the natural intellectual stimulation she and Jay provide each other, though her lack of trust makes it hard for her to accept their happiness together. Thoughtful and considerate, she is savvy enough to recognise sincerity though too inquisitive not to question it.

RICHARD TODD AS JOE

Highly intelligent and with a dry sense of humour, Joe may appear timid but is in fact incredibly self-assured. He uses humour to confront the awkwardness of reality, though seemingly never laughs at any jokes or situations himself. Although close with Jay, Joe's reluctance to be serious means they never discuss personal issues.

HARRIET KEMSLEY AS LAUREN

Joe's live-in girlfriend, Lauren is a stand-up comic who is also naturally very funny. Her desperation to be accepted and lack of ego downplay her abilities, and despite being the most successful of the three friends, she wrongly believes she is the least talented. Joe's lack of intimacy has left a void in her life and she has slowly, unwittingly, developed a soft spot for Jay.
